Texas in My Soul, Britain in My Heart

I'm a university student from Texas who loves my home state, but is a complete Brit at heart. From their TV shows to their accents, their landscapes, architecture, musicians, and culture, I love the UK and find it absolutely beautiful and fascinating.

Alright guys, I’m going to risk losing some of my directioner followers, but I have to say it. This is just plain stupid. If One Direction has helped you grow in your love of the UK/Ireland, that’s great - but to say that it’s the only thing you love about it is just so wrong. I’m not saying this just because I don’t like One Direction, I’m saying it because I’m tired of people only liking the union jack/flag or the UK because it makes them think of 1D. Before you say you love this place, you need to have a better reason than simply liking a boy band whose members live in it/near it. The UK/Ireland doesn’t deserve this. It’s created Doctor Who, Sherlock, some of the best comedy in the world, incredible actors, comedians, authors, (Shakespeare anyone?) and yes - musicians, and it boasts some of the most beautiful landscapes and architecture on the planet. If you’re a directioner - please, rethink this and love the UK for its true treasures.
